A letter from the Future.(Tushanshu Letter Plot)

From Master Assassin Arno Dorian to his washed out of the Brotherhood Past Self,
[The letter is written with small penmanship, filling up both sides of the paper it is written on. But that isn't all. After the page is filled up horizontally on both sides, there is vertical writing, crammed across and in between the rest of the writing so that Arno has to turn it to read the rest of the words, in the new direction, saving the writer extra sheets of paper. Apparently even Master Assassins are cheap when it comes to using up their paper.]

Dear Arno,

Looking back at my past compels me to remember the stupidity of youth and my own in particular, perhaps because I am..you are…

Forgive me, it is not every day I feel the need to address my own self, from the past, in letter form, and I do not expect that it will be an everyday occurrence in my own future either. You see, I am the older, maybe wiser, version of myself who knows a truth that you have yet to learn, a truth that is better revealed in the form of a warning, rather than the discovery itself.

You have made many mistakes in your search for the truth thus far, but, fate willing, you can manage to avoid SOME of my own. You wish to know the power behind the Revolution, and that is the most important bit of information I can give to you. It is indeed an orchestration, and at the very top is Robespierre.

Discredit and Eliminate him, and you will be getting somewhere. If your future is the same as my past, I tell you that Elise had the idea to discredit him well in hand. Should the crowd turn against, and arrest him, much of your work will already be done. Of course, be aware he likely will escape and need to be tracked down again. Once he is gone, Germain will be your target and he will be hiding in the Temple, through the catacombs and crypts where you must find and…

If it is at all possible, you must keep Elise from charging at the man, from leaving you to continue the fight. Much as she will want her revenge, it is...not a good idea to let her go by any means. If you care for her half so much as I did, you will find the way to hold her back, and not to let her…

If you would not have the death of another loved one on your conscience, one who you could easily have saved, if you would not fail Elise as you failed both of your fathers, you will hold her back. Elise is not the girl you knew, but I would love the woman that she is, should the prospect of doing so still exist.

At the last request of Elise de La Serre, I received letters from the Templar Haytham Kenway, written to his sister, Jennifer Scott, but more importantly, addressing our mutual causes, and, templar or not, he has some things of importance to say. Read those, if you get the chance, Elise should have them safely stored away by the time you will need them most. After, you will understand what it is that you need to do, and for your sake, I hope that you do it together. As I cannot do more for Elise in this world, I ask that you try it in your own time.

Remember The Creed and what it stands for, and that it does not mean what you think, what any young Assassin thinks when they first speak the words. If nothing is true, and everything is permitted, then you must be careful where you find your truths, and what you do with them. The creed is not permission to run rampant and destroy things, but a warning, about the power that you have, and the things you choose to do with it.

Choose carefully and wisely as you make your way back to the Council, when the time has come. Understand your great responsibility and the burdens that it brings you, and know that all the power, all the answers to every question, every problem, truly lie within yourself. Avoid ideals that turn to dogma, and fanaticism as you’ve seen the terror that they can bring. War and Victory, Defeat and Death? Do they matter so much in the end? The choice is left to you, and you alone, and I know, and you do too, that you are up to making it.

Everything you are, everything that you will be, begins and ends in one place: with yourself.

Be strong, Brother, but be mindful as well. Choose your road carefully and remember that discretion is the better, (and the most often ignored by yourself) part of valour. Trust yourself, but use your mind instead of just your instincts. Follow it, and someday you will be…

-Master Assassin, Arno Dorian

Addendum: The Basilica of Saint Denis, contains something the likes of which no Templar, specifically Bonaparte, should reach. Look for the passage and be certain anything you find stays strictly out of the man’s reach.

Addendum 2: Be patient with the boy called Leon. He is more of a help than you know. Give him a fair chance, at least. You never know what he could become.

Addendum 3: No, I doubt you will be happy if you could not save her. But that’s no reason everyone else must suffer with you. Life is pain, brother, but yours can still serve a greater purpose if you will allow it.

Addendum 4: I mean what I say about your rash behavior. Put an end to it. Now.
